Host a Teacher from Germany – application process guidelines

In order to take part in this programme, coordinating teachers fill out an application form on behalf of their school. This page outlines the application process for the Host a Teacher from Germany programme 2020-21.

Before you start with your online application, please read our Help page as it contains important information on logging in/out of, saving, previewing and downloading your application. Please also refer to this page in case you experience any technical difficulties.

The following application process guidelines cover the steps and documentation needed to apply for this programme.

  • What kind of information do we ask for?

    In the online application form we will ask for information about:

    • the hosting school (ie institution)
    • the coordinating teacher
    • the hosting school’s plans to host a teacher from Germany

    As part of the application we will need you to accept our terms and conditions as laid out in the following documents, which you should have read before submitting your application:

    Confirmation and signatures

    There will also be a page at the end of the application, which we will ask you to download and which will require your and your Head of institution’s signatures. It will be your responsibility to provide the required signatures and upload the signed page onto the application platform. It is important to note that your application will only be considered complete if this signed document is included as part of your online application as it shows your school’s commitment to the programme.

  • Timeline: What happens once an application has been submitted?

    Once we have received your complete application you will be sent a confirmation email. (Please regularly check the ‘spam’ / ‘junk’ folder in your email account, as acknowledgement emails from the online applications system are occasionally filtered into the spam folder.)

    After the deadline for submitting applications has passed we will begin the process of matching your school with a teacher from Germany. As there are two deadlines, 18 September and 1 December, we will start by matching all schools that applied before the September deadline and intend to host a teacher in the autumn term. These schools will receive a hosting confirmation including the details of the German teacher they were matched with in early October.

    Schools that have applied by 1 December 2020 and intend to host a teacher during the spring or summer term will receive their hosting confirmation before Christmas 2020.

  • How can a hosting offer be withdrawn?

    If you would like to withdraw your hosting offer after submitting your application, please contact hostateacher@ukgermanconnection.org.
