We’re calling on all young people from across the UK and Germany to take us on a virtual tour of your country! Submit an entry to our photo competition today.

Travel may be off limits right now, but the exploration of another country and culture doesn’t have to be! We’re inviting you to get creative and give other young people a glimpse into your world!

See below for further information about how to submit a photo entry to our competition: “Welcome to my world”.

Please note: By entering this competition, you grant UK-German Connection non-exclusive permission to use your photo for activities in all media, including social media, online and print, without any remuneration being due.

  • What is the competition all about?
    • Simply send us a photo under the title “Welcome to my world” – this could be:
      • The view from your window
      • Something you’ve seen during your daily walk/exercise
      • A photo of your town/city
      • A project you’ve been working on during lockdown
    • For privacy reasons, please do not send photos that show people’s faces. Instead, you could send photos that show the backs of people’s heads (or that don’t include people at all!)
  • Who can enter?

    To enter, you must be:

    • Aged between 14 and 25
    • A permanent resident of the UK or Germany
    • You do not have to be learning German
  • How do I submit an entry?
    • Send your photo entry by email to photos@ukgermanconnection.org
    • Attach your photo to the email and include a short paragraph in your email,  which should include:
      • Your name
      • Your age
      • Your school/institution
      • Your location
      • A short description of what your photo shows
    • All photos submitted must be in JPG format, with high quality and resolution, of a maximum of 5MB in size but not lower than 1MB.
    • If you have social media, you could also post your photo there (in addition to sending it by email):
      • use the hashtag #myworlddeineWelt
      • and tag us @ukgconnection (Instagram) / @ukgconnection (Twitter) / @ukgermanconnection (Facebook)

    Deadline to submit: Friday, 5 June 2020

  • What happens after I submit my entry?

    Once the deadline has passed, the entries will be judged and:

    • The best photos submitted will be showcased on our website and social media channels
    • The top three entries will also be sent some UK-German Connection goodies (including a hoodie for the very best photo!)
  • How will my photos be used?

    By entering this competition, you grant UK-German Connection non-exclusive permission to use your photo for activities in all media, including social media, online and print, without any remuneration being due. If and when we use your photo we will credit you accordingly.

    Your photo entries may be showcased:

    • on our UK-German Connection social media channels (Twitter, Facebook, Instragram)
    • as website content related to the theme of the competition and the promotion of youth relations on www.ukgermanconnection.org

    On a recent walk around my local reservoir, I found this old chair had been placed under this beautiful tree. It was the perfect hidden spot to watch the ducks on the water.
