World Book Day

Today is World Book Day, a celebration of reading, so children dressed up either as a character from a book or as a word. Alex really enjoyed all the children’s costumes including his own. It was a fun day.

The temperatures have dropped quite a bit in Watford and Alex was feeling rather cold, so Zara kindly made him some clothes. She made a t-shirt, a vest and a hat. He looks quite stylish and he really likes his new outfit.

Today Ben met a new friend. He spent the afternoon with this friend a little Guinea pig from Nuremberg!
And Ben and the pupils from Nuremberg are already very excited about the items from Watford! He will start to prepare a package for Watford next week!!

Alex and children in Year 4 are preparing a special package to send to Ben and the children in Konrad Gross Grundschule. They are designing some letters, cards and even some origami. Alex also wants to send a few surprise items.

Alex spent the half term holidays with Akinsa and had a lot of fun by going to the park, going shopping and having lots of yummy food.
Alex even went to Akinsa’s parents work place. It was a nice break and Akinsa and Alex got to know each other better.

Today we opened the great parcel of our English partner school in English classes. We were very pleased!!! The parcel contained English sweets, postcards, a book, a puzzle, tea and great letters from the students! Many thanks to the children and teacher of the Lexton Junior School in Oundle!

Today Ben watched mushrooms that has been cultivated by kids of the class 3b since a couple of weeks. It’ s so amazing how fast they grow from day to day! Ben is already excited how they taste on a delicious pizza or a hot creamy mushroom soup on these cold days. Yummy! ????????????????????????????

Tickets to the Art Show Case

Yesterday was an amazing day, I walked with Year 4 Beech to Central Primary School Art Show Case which was held at a venue. I was really impressed by the quality and diversity of art pieces on display made by children from Year 1 to Year 6. The musical performance was also diverse with Keyboard, Djembe Drumming and violin pieces. There were also numerous drama performances. I enjoyed especially the choir performance as they sang the German song “Lasst uns miteinander”.

Guten Morgen
Alex is well and says hello. He was a little grumpy at first today because he heard Ben has not arrived and thinks he is taking a holiday e route to Germany. However, he soon cheered up and later said he was wunderbar: he has been learning science with our children, played at lunch-time club and went home with Anvee last night.

On Monday the 3rd of February Alex arrived at Central Primary School and was introduced to Year 4 Beam class. They started to listen to Alex’s song and quite enjoyed it. We will learn the meaning of the words during the week and try to sing along.
Alex took part in our French lesson and went to Assembly with Year 4 and it was quite interesting.

Ich bin seit Montag in der Wisbech Grammar Schule! Schüler haben mir tolle Willkommenskarten überreicht und sich vorgestellt! Dann haben wir alle zusammen 1-10 gezählt. Ich habe auch die Farben mit ihnen wiederholt und sie lieben meinen blauen Mantel!

Ben the Bear visited us today:
Evdoxia and Juliana.
First he was allowed to have lunch with me (Juliana).
Then Ben watched me do my homework.
After that he was allowed to take me to the Zumba.
There he watched us dance.
Then we drove to the library and borrowed books.
We went home with the books and we all had dinner together.

Ben was a guest when Fabian and Charlie played football in a gym, their (ihr) Thursday football coaching. He wore (trug) a jersey and a wolly hat of the HANSA ROSTOCK TEAM. It was really fun and Ben liked it. He smiled.

On Monday the 13th of January Ben visited Harley. He helped her planning her birthday party in February and she read some German fairy tales of the Brothers Grimm for him.

Alex takes part in the Christmas Play

Alex took part in our Christmas Play Christmas Around the World at Monks Coppenhall Academy in Crewe.
He visited Poland, China, Australia, Malawi, the USA and Ireland.
He learnt how to say Merry Christmas in Malawi.’Khilisimasi Yabwino!’ Merry Christmas!
Ben plays rugby
Ben had his first rugby experience. Jury took care of him and made sure that he would not get injured. Ben enjoyed this very much!
Ben enjoys pizza
Ben stayed with Mika and Juri for a weekend. They had a lot of fun together and ate pizza.

Ben spent the weekend at Teos house. Teo also took him to a football play and gave Ben a tricot of his favourite football team – the HSV!

Ben is really happy with all his friends. Everyone brought their favourite cuddly toy.

Ben showed us how to prepare cucumber sandwiches. Everyone loved it! Eventhough we were surprised that there was only cucumber on it and no cheese or ham.
Alex Celebrates Christmas
Today Alex has been helping the children in Year 3 to make gift tags for Monks Coppenhall Academy’s Christmas Fayre on Friday. Tomorrow he is going to the theatre to see ‘The Prince and the Pauper’ and on Thursday he is going to the Christmas Party. He is very excited!

Ben arrived in Meerbusch and met his old friend Mr. Mole, the English mascot.
Alex Maps London
Today Alex learnt all about London with the Year 2 children at Monk Coppenhall Academy in Crewe. He then helped them program a robot to go from St Paul’s Cathedral to the Shard. His favourite building in London was Big Ben because his best friend is called Ben.
Double the fun over the weekend!

Alex enjoys his half term holiday

Alex joined two of our older pupils for the half term holiday. He enjoyed a trip to the park and celebrated at a light party organised by Hemblington Church.

Ben got to work and started to plan his stay and his activities. Excited about all the possibilities, he started to schedule his stay in order to fit all the wonderful ideas presented to him by the students he met.

New Adventures!
Ben had his first day in Jena. His new friend Raphael took him on a first trip through the city. They visited the library and Ben had the opportunity to learn a lot about German books. After taking in so much knowledge the two relaxed and enjoyed playing with Lego for a while.
They finished the day with an amazing dinner including German sausages and real German bread!
It was a tiring but exciting day for Ben and he`s exited for what is still to come.

After taking a while longer than expected, Ben finally arrived in his new home in Jena. He was warmly welcomed by his new friends at the Kulturanum school in Jena Lobeda. In order to calm down Ben used the opportunity to relax and listen to his favourite travel songs.
