Coordinator, school and youth partnerships, projects and grants

The post holder will be in charge of coordinating UK-German Connection’s offer for bilateral school and youth partnerships and exchange projects, including grants.

Responsibilities will include – 

  • providing information, advice and guidance to schools and youth groups in both the UK and Germany on partnership activities, projects and planning
  • managing, maintaining and supporting relationships with schools and youth groups, including communication and correspondence in both languages
  • coordinating and facilitating partnership events, including networks, workshops and support schemes
  • managing UK-German Connection’s funding schemes (grants and bursaries), including pre-application guidance, assessment and selection, and grant applicant management
  • general programme coordination and administration, including data & records management and some project finances
  • contributing to project-related outreach and publicity activities, including presentations, web pages, digital communications and storytelling
  • evaluating projects, reviewing procedures and content and contributing to general reports
  • contributing to the strategic and conceptual development of UK-German school and youth partnership activities as well as UK-German Connection’s wider offer and programme activity.

 

Skills & competencies

We are particularly looking for highly committed, flexible candidates, who have a strong interest in international exchange projects and in interacting with clients and customers. In their application, candidates should show evidence of the following:

  • essential: excellent communication skills (oral and written), interpersonal and social skills, and a strong customer-service approach
  • essential: leadership skills and aptitude to coordinate and facilitate workshops and events, in-person and virtual (prior experience is desirable)
  • essential: excellent project management and organisational skills, including the ability to manage several projects simultaneously (prior experience is desirable)
  • essential: excellent data management skills and high levels of attention to detail and accuracy
  • essential: very good IT skills, including MS Office & E-mail
  • essential: ability to work both independently and cooperatively as a team member
  • essential: aptitude and willingness to learn and acquire new skills and an active interest in development and innovation
  • essential: English to native standard and a very good basis in German (as a minimum).
  • desirable: a high level of bi-cultural awareness about the UK and Germany and intercultural competence
  • desirable: some knowledge of the UK and German education systems, particularly the schools and informal education (youth) sectors, and international projects
  • desirable: some prior knowledge of website-editing (esp. WordPress) and/or client-relationship management database
  • desirable: willingness to work occasional evenings and weekends (for events)
