(Aranka, Trier)
"My photo shows what I see on a spring walk, when we can't drive. This photo shows spring sheep/lambs." (Charlotte, Kent)
"This sunset photo of Edinburgh is the view from my house." (Neve, Edinburgh)
"I don't think I've ever spent so much time in my room until the lockdown was introduced. Rather than seeing it as a punishment, I've redecorated my room and come to love it as a place in my world. This photo shows my view of the sky through my window from my bed which I took after I'd finished some work. To me, it captures the irony of feeling trapped at home by an invisible, undetectable enemy, even thought there's a whole world out there to explore! The windows are open but I'm not free to explore the world beyond as I normally would - instead, I (and everyone else) have had to turn to virtual means of exploring the world and staying connected to friends and family." (Akshar, London)
"Although my school term ended abruptly, I've kept myself busy trying out lots of new things, including gardening and flower-arranging. These colourful tulips are the first things I've grown in our garden, and they always bring a smile to my face!" (Caroline, Shrewsbury)
"This photograph shows the local telephone box which is normally used as a book box / local mini library. However due to current circumstances it has been taped off as to prevent cross contamination." (Charlie, Cheshire)
"My photo shows a five-year-old Boer goat buck who is the head of our herd. He has fathered many goat kids. He is of excellent temperament and very intelligent." (Lucy, Aberdeenshire)
"An early morning run on an almost deserted beach." (Oliver, Tynemouth)
"This is a picture of the sun setting behind some fields. I took this picture on one of my walks in the countryside near my house." (Sarah, Moira)
"This one’s for the “Charlouthkia” (“Little Charlies” - the nickname given to Greek-Cypriots living in England). Cooking “souvlakia” on a traditional Greek barbecue with the backdrop of an English lawn - the epitome of the cultural fusion we live in our immigrant communities." (Costas, Walsall)
"This photo was taken in Tynemouth, Tyne and Wear, and it is of a boat alone on the sea, far from the shore." (Toby, Newcastle)
(Evdokia, Viersen)
"I was walking with my family and I thought wow Orkney is a beautiful place so that's where this photo came from." (Lavinia, Orkney)
"This is a picture of my little greenhouse in Moira. During lockdown, I have been growing strawberries, tomatoes, peas, chillis and nasturtiums in it. My sister and I sometimes have our morning coffee here too!" (Grace, Moira)
(Michael, Stein)
"I took this photo on a walk with my family, as I really liked the statue of St Francis that someone has left in an alcove. It has been there for many years, however the tribute to the NHS was recently added." (Susana, London)
"I have taken a photo of the view of the trees from my window at home in London, but with a twist!
On the window using liquid chalk I wrote the hashtag ‘myworldeineWelt’ and included little pictures from both the German and British worlds. For Germany I drew a pretzel with beer, a Christmas Tree, gingerbread, and a football. From the UK I drew a royal corgi, tennis racket and ball from Wimbledon, and a cup of tea." (Sofia, London)
"Although currently I have not been to my university in quite a while. With the new corona virus forcing universities around the globe into online lectures, I have stayed at home with my parents since February. This has now given me the opportunity to experience something that I had not been able to experience since 2017: summer in my hometown (as we say in German: Glück im Unglück). The picture I attached is from a sunny evening on the beach of the Elbe, a beautiful river to walk or bike along. In high school we used to spend many days and even nights here and it was incredible to revisit it on such a beautiful summer evening, recapturing just some of the nostalgia this place holds for me." (Josh, Passau)
"My photo is of my dog called Teaka in my garden in spring." (Hannah, Monmouthshire)
"My photo shows my bicycle after a day of cycling in the local park in North West London. I decided to take a photo at that moment as I was standing while waiting for my family to go back home. The flowers were recently in bloom which I thought was really pretty and I liked contrast of the colour of the flowers with the colour of my bicycle. This photo is typical of my daily life in lockdown as I have been cycling regularly as part of my exercise." (Alice, London)
"This is a photo that I have taken during lockdown of the lakes that surround my village." (Kimiya, The Cotswolds)
"My photo shows Sauchiehall Street in Glasgow during lockdown in April of this year. Sauchihall Street is one of the main shopping streets in Glasgow and is normally bustling and vibrant but as you see in this photo, nearly deserted during lockdown. If you walk the full length of Sauchiehall Street, you come to Hope Street. This gave me the idea to name my photo " The Road to Hope Street" as hope has been such a central focus for the Scottish people during the Covid-19 pandemic. " (Archie, Glasgow)
"My photo shows a sunset which has different colours which are unique in their own ways. They contrast each other very nicely creating a beautiful sunset, also in the distance some trees can be seen." (Natalia, Aberdeenshire)
"My photo is about finding light and peace of mind in the current dark times. It shows that there is hope and that there soon be a day when we can all finally continue our normal lives.
For now, we must find the light in our lives inside." (Maria, London)
(Laurin, Gelnhausen)
"I’ve been waking up at 5:00am every morning, since quarantine/lockdown started, to photograph the birds and squirrels in my garden, expanding my photography portfolio." (Gianni, High Wycombe)
"This picture shows the view from a window in my house. It shows much of the surrounding area of Nuneaton and beyond. As you can see, there are a lot of farmer’s fields and the field closest, is a field for horses. Slightly to the right, and vertically centred, you can see Caldecote Hall. You can see approximately 30 miles." (Billy, Nuneaton)
(Valentina, Gauting)
"I have chosen this photo as it shows the artistry of the natural world. Looking at the sublime sunset in juxtaposition to the headlights of the cars, there is absolutely no means of comparison. The transmission towers are miles and miles away from even touching the beauty of the clouds (figuratively and literally). Oh how we forget to thank God for the beauty He has freely given us. I hope we cherish the Earth, because you don’t realise how precious something is until you lose it." (Aderonke, London)
"This photo is of a robin who, despite lockdown, is a constant visitor to my garden, always on the lookout for a juicy worm or some fresh seeds." (Finn, Surrey)
"A photo I took on an evening walk, showing the sunset, with a plane trail and the moon above it in Stoke-On-Trent" (Rohan, Stoke-On-Trent)
"This is an acrylic painting of an emu in the style of jos coufreur. " (Isabelle, West Midlands)
"I have decided to enter this photo into the competition as it captures Scotland's immense wealth of natural beauty through the fields and forests. I also chose this as it subtly calls to Scotland's amazing renewable energy system through the windmill, from which the country generates 90% of its electricity." (Jason, Aberdeenshire)
"In this crisis, I keep calm and bake. In this case I made fluffy apple cinnamon muffins. Then, I sit down in the garden with a good book and enjoy. (Felicitas, Memmingen)
"My picture shows the butterflies displayed on my window. Many people have chosen to place a rainbow in their windows as a symbol of hope during this pandemic, however my family and I chose to display butterflies in the colours of the rainbow. Passers by have commented on how lovely and bright the butterflies look and some people have even taken pictures of the window! Through having these butterflies in the window, I hope to cheer people up in these strange and unfortunate times."
(Faye, Glasgow)
"This is the view on my canal walk. All the boats are docked, it reminds me to stay afloat in times of darkness."
(Karl, Leipzig)
"This is the track up to Clitheroe Castle, featuring one of the old castle buildings and part of the castle with its flagpole. I took it on a walk with my dog, who is in the photo." (Misty, Lancashire)
"Life in a leaf in my back garden during lockdown, best described by Theodor Storm:
Ein Blatt aus sommerlichen Tagen,
Ich nahm es so im Wandern mit,
Auf dass es einst mir möge sagen,
Wie laut die Nachtigall geschlagen,
Wie grün der Wald, den ich durchschritt." (Eleanor, Oxford)
"When taking a walk around the city centre, I always go into Coventry cathedral ruins. They're so peaceful to sit in and read a book for a while." (Megan, Coventry)
"This picture was taken outside my school. I'm a girl that is meeting the world everyday. This photograph shows my world, the airplane is a representation of my school/teachers and the passengers inside are us. Our school and teachers help us see the world, they take us to a new place everyday. My school is my ticket to the world." (Anna, Levenshulme)
(Reham, Gelnhausen)
"I walk around the lakes, next to where I live, almost everyday because it is so pretty with all the flowers and ducks." (Madeleine, Sandhurst)
"My photo is of the Royal Edinburgh Military Tattoo, a festival held in august each year. It brings performers from all over the world and each country does a short parade to music, brass instruments, drums, dancers, highland dancers etc. This photo is one of the final sequences when they all parade together. The festival sells out practically every year as people travel from across the world to watch it. It is held in front of the Edinburgh castle and is shown on tv." (Anna, Broughty Ferry)
" In this photo we can see a typical Yorkshire path alongside a stone wall, unique to my area. I took this photo while on a walk at the Lake District. Below the mountains, we can see the Rydal lake." (Oliwia, Yorkshire)
"I am a German Teacher. Besides teaching my lovely German students online and sending them on virtual trips to Berlin and Munich, I have been busy painting Schloss Neuschwanstein in Schwangau (my absolute favourite place)!" (Leanne, Birmingham)
"My photo is from my Duke of Edinburgh Gold expedition, in the Donegal Mountains, July 2018. After a long day of hiking 19km, we settled down for the night at this camping spot, beside a river in the valley." (Shane, County Tyrone)
"This photo shows one of my favourite places to relax, on the edge of the Brecon Beacons National Park, which is a place that I’ve found quite valuable recently with the current travel restrictions. I walk my dog, Sasha, here often and she seems to enjoy it too! It was here, at the start of lockdown, that I saw fox cubs for the first time. On the day I took this photo, they were there again and they were almost fully grown already!" (Megan, South Wales)
