Albert Einstein

One of the most famous scientists in history.

You have probably heard of Albert Einstein. He was born in Ulm, Germany, and is one of the greatest and most famous characters in history.

Did you know?

Albert Einstein was a scientist and best known for his theory of relativity. This theory tries to explain the relationship between space, time, matter and energy. His ideas changed our understanding of the universe and are the foundation of modern physics.

In 1921, he won the Nobel Peace prize!

He is also famous for his messy and wild hair!

Throughout his life Albert Einstein was very curious, and this is why he became a scientist. Once, when he was 5 years old, he was ill. In order to cheer him up, his father gave him a compass. Little Albert was fascinated by the magnetic object. He shook it and twisted it.

Albert Einstein was fascinated with things like the compass. He always wanted to know how they worked and understand things not obvious to the human eye. But Albert Einstein was not only interested in science, he was also a pacifist.

Einstein was against all forms of violence and spoke and wrote passionately against war. Born in Germany, he left before the Second World War to live in the United States. He referred to himself as a “world citizen”. As a person, Einstein was a bit special in his own very likeable way. He refused to wear socks because he didn’t want his wife to waste her time darning them. With his white, messy hair he looked a bit like a wizard.

A genius also makes mistakes. Einstein even believed that making mistakes is actually part of being successful. He said: “anyone who never made a mistake has never tried anything new”.
