German Teacher Award

If you know a truly outstanding German language teacher at your primary or secondary school – make sure that their dedication and excellence get the recognition they deserve! The Embassy of the Federal Republic of Germany in London is now inviting nominations for the annual German Teacher Award. The award is given every year to excellent teachers of German who have who have made an outstanding and dedicated contribution to German teaching at their school.

Host a Teacher from Germany – virtually!(*)

You can still bring authentic German language and culture to your classroom this year, even if travel isn’t possible at the moment. We’ll put you in touch with a teacher from Germany and help you to plan your virtual hosting experience, with ideas for presentations, interactive lessons, group language practice sessions and other bilateral activities between your classes.

(*) Please note that in registering to host virtually, there will also be the possibility to transfer your hosting experience to a face-to-face visit if you wish, as and when travel is possible again.

The Oxford German Olympiad

The Oxford German Olympiad 2021 is now open! This series of competitions is open to pupils from ages 9 – 18. This year’s theme is ‘Die Alpen‘.

Language World is the annual conference and exhibition for language teachers in all sectors of education, and has a programme of talks, workshops and plenary sessions. The 2021 conference will take place on online.

‘Never Such Innocence’ Competition

The charity, ‘Never Such Innocence’ is running a competition, inviting young people to write a poem, speech, or song, or create a piece of art responding to themes surrounding conflict.

This year’s theme is ‘The Unheard Voices of Conflict: Stories from Around the World’, giving young people a chance to share their reflections on conflict or give a voice to those who may not have one, through creative arts. Never Such Innocence‘s German partner institution, the Volksbund, is offering four places on their summer camp for winners in the 16-18 age category of each section of the competition!
